Dreamy Layers

It's peonies season and I couldn't resist treating myself to some of these beautiful blooms yesterday. They smell heavenly! I love their delicate layers. They almost look like they're made out of tissue papers. I can't wait to have them for our wedding next summer :)

Summer already?

Just want to share this cute picture with you today. I love the color contrast between the ladybug and the purple leaves. Boston is having a little heat wave and it definitely feels like summer. I'm not quite ready for this heat though so I'll be staying cool in the house with the AC on! :) Have a happy weekend everyone!

Seattle's Gum Wall

Disco Bob's mysterious location on Monday's post is the Post Alley Gum Wall at Seattle's Pike Place Market. It's such an odd and sort of gross (imagine the germs!) attraction but it really makes for a great photo op. It's all good as long as you don't touch anything!

I love all the colors. It makes such a fun photo background. People even make artworks with their chewed up gums! The "Stuck On You" art (pictured right) is so great. How did they get it so high up?

This picture shows just how massive this gum wall is. There is also a gum ball machine on site but somehow I forgot to take a picture of it. You'll just have to take my word for it! Definitely not a must visit in Seattle but you'll probably be at the Pike Place Market anyways so just swing by for a quirky fun picture :)

Disco Bob's SoWa Debut

Disco Bob showed off his traveling portraits yesterday at SoWa open market. People loved him! Most of the pictures were pretty straight forward with him in front of the Eiffel Tower, with Big Ben, etc. However, this picture stumped a lot of customers. I love how the background matched his hair perfectly. Can you figure out where Disco Bob traveled to in this picture? :)

Cupcake flags

I made these the other day and I'm so excited to add them to my shop :) I also can't wait to use them to top all the cupcakes I'm planning to bake this summer (let the BBQs begin!). Come by SoWa this Sunday if you're around. Happy Weekend!

Boston's Landmark

I love our CITGO sign. It's just one of those things that screams Boston! It's so cool how this sign has become so iconic. (You can read more about it here.) I was inspired to make it into an artwork this week.

Here's the end result :) I used three different patterns of Japanese masking tapes for the triangle and blue markers for the words. I love how it came out. What do you think?

Cool beavers

James and I saw these cute graffiti while we were walking around Baltimore. There were so many different beavers or at least that's what I think they are! Graffiti are so intriguing to me. Some of the artworks are just so cool! I've always wondered how long it took the artists to paint these things or how they managed to paint so high up. The scale of some of these works are truly amazing. I had a better idea of how it's done after watching Exit Through the Gift Shop; a really entertaining documentary about graffiti artists.

On the other hand, I would hate to be the owners of these buildings. It must be a pain to have your property vandalized and have to spend the money to get them removed. I'm just glad I'm not them and that I get to enjoy these street arts!

Sister Love

Us strolling along the Seine
I want to wish my lovely (and crazy talented!) sister a wonderful birthday today. I love you so much! ♥
Btw, check out her youtube page for fun makeup/hair tutorials or to enjoy one of her cover songs :)
Happy Friday!

Happy Museum

We visited the American Visionary Art Museum while we were in Baltimore last week. It is such a fun museum! Look at this amazing mosaic art outside of the building.

There were so many cool things to see outside of the museum. This cute little garden was one of them.

Special message next to the garden. It's so sweet and true!

How cool is this? I love the look of the bird's nest.

James and I were having so much fun and we weren't even inside the museum yet!

At the entrance we were greeted with a mat made out of toothbrushes. I didn't even noticed it at first. I love how colorful it is.

Close-up of the mat
Their current exhibition is "What makes us smile?". Everything in there was so funny and quirky. I was laughing and smiling the whole time. Too bad they didn't allow pictures inside of the museum but maybe that's a good thing because I would want to take pictures of everything! There were so many funny quotes all over the walls of this exhibit. Here are a few that I remember:

"A smile is a curve that sets everything straight." - Phyllis Diller

"Be true to your teeth and they won't be false to you." - Soupy Sales

"Death is caused by swallowing small amounts of saliva over a long period of time." - George Carlin

"Don't be so humble, you're not that great." - Golda Meir

Awesome quote by Mae West

Perfect stamp for the exhibition :)

I love smaller museums like this one. You don't feel overwhelmed by all the arts and you actually get to see everything in the museum. It's also a plus when it's such a fun exhibit :)

Rainbow cake

How fun is this slice of cake? James and I took a little road trip to Baltimore last week and this was one of the many sweets that we ate. I love rainbow cakes and became even more obsessed with them after seeing this picture on Serious Eats a while ago. I have a long list of things I want to bake and a rainbow cake is definitely on there. I promise to share pictures and recipe when I do! Happy Monday!

P.S. Just in cake you were wondering, the cake was moist but definitely too sweet! I can't wait to make my own version :-)

Mother's Day

This Sunday is Mother's Day and this post is dedicated to my mom. She is so amazing. Not only is she a beautiful lady (I mean, look at her. She could be my sister!), she is also the most talented person I know. My mom is truly a super woman. She knows how to do everything...cook delicious foods, sew, knit, sing, run a successful business, completely renovate a home, and on and on and on. I've learned so much from her and she never ceases to amaze me.

My mom works so hard to give us all that we have. I've always said that her life story can be written into a novel. She faced so many hardships to be where she is today. I am so grateful for all that she has done and still does for us. I love her so much!

Having one day to celebrate such a special person is really not enough. This is the least that we can do so remember to do something extra special for your mom! Buy her a beautiful bouquet of flowers and take her out for a fancy meal. I know I will!

Bumble Bee Landing

I want to introduce you to Bumble Bee Landing today. My sister's friend, Dana, is a talented florist who creates beautiful wedding bouquets and arrangements. She recently opened a shop in Cohasset, MA and I had the chance to visit her last week. Her flower shop is so charming. Dana loves what she does and it really shows through her work. She's the perfect person to contact when you need flowers for any event. Check out her photo gallery for some inspirations :)

Here are the pictures from my visit:

First Timer

Welcome to my booth! I really like the soft colors. They make it cheerful and fun :)
I'm so happy to report that I survived my first time as a vendor at an open market. It was so much fun! We had a good showing despite the chilly weather and crazy wind yesterday. I had such a good time talking to customers and seeing them smile at Mr. Mustachio's picture. I also made raspberry macarons to give out as a little thank you for all my customers. I can't wait to do it again!

Special thank you to my family and all my wonderful friends for coming out and supporting me. It means so much to me. I also have to thank my wonderful fiance for waking up early and helping me with everything. I love you!

Here are some more pictures :)

I love this garland so much! I made it with Japanese washi masking tapes. They come in so many colors and patterns. I can't wait to use them for other craft projects.

Me before I had to put on my winter jacket because it got so chilly!

My mini moo business cards. I love the size and all the different photos I get to have on the other side.
