Royal Madness

I love how the London Eye peeks out in this photo :)
Today is all about the Royal Wedding. A lot of people don't understand what all the fuss is about but I absolutely love it. When can you ever see the wedding of a real prince and princess? (She's not technically a princess but close enough!) I love celebrations. I'm also especially excited about this wedding because I'm planning my own wedding for next year :) I couldn't wait to see her dress and it definitely did not disappoint! She looked beautiful. The dress is so glamorous and classy. I'm sure it'll be a popular style for many future brides out there. It was a beautiful wedding and I want to wish both of them a lifetime full of happiness. With that, I would like to share some of my favorite pictures from my day trip to London last year.

The sun came out just in time for the picture on the left. It made the iconic red phone booth extra bright and having Big Ben in the background is definitely a plus. That's me on the right. I couldn't resist! I love those fun hats that the ladies in England get to wear. One of these days I'll have to host an afternoon tea where these hats will be mandatory! :)

The gates outside of Buckingham Palace. I love all the little details of the Royal Coat of Arms.

Palace Guards
London's metro station.

A different view of Big Ben (left). Another guard I saw while roaming the streets of London (right).

This lamp post is so pretty. The London Eye looks so small at this angle.

Trafalgar Square
Hope you enjoyed these photos. I need to visit London again. A day trip was such a tease! There's so much more to see and do (and I need to buy a hat for my future tea party!). Anyways, please come by Sowa and say hello if you are in Boston this Sunday. Have a happy weekend everyone!

Need Sleep

fyi: He always sleeps like this, with one paw covering his eyes, whenever he doesn't want to be bothered or if it's too bright. He's too cute!
Moochi knows how I'm feeling today. I stayed up really late last night to finish framing my artworks. Now I'm super sleepy and all I can think about is taking a nap. Oh well, I still have a lot to do for Sunday. Hope I can stay up!

Fancy food shopping

Looking at this picture makes me want to run out and get a cupcake asap! This was taken at Harrods in London; one of the most beautiful department stores I've ever visited.
They have the most amazing food halls. Everything is displayed so beautifully. I love browsing around and seeing all the goodies. Can you imagine doing your food shopping here?
I couldn't resist taking another picture of these cupcakes. I love all the fun colors and cute toppings.
Who knew whoopie pies are so popular in London? They're definitely more fancy than the ones here. Anyways, hope you enjoyed this little visit to Harrods. Happy Friday!

Fun Interview

I'm so happy to be featured on Cakespy yesterday! Cakespy.com is described as "a Dessert Detective Agency dedicated to seeking sweetness (literally) in everyday life." It's such a fun site and I've been a huge fan for a long time. Jessie Oleson is the talented head spy behind it all. I am so excited to be one of her cake gumshoes and have reported about bakeries in Boston (if you like, you can read those here and here). Jessie is so sweet. She wanted to do this quick interview with me once she knew that I was starting a small photo business.

Thank you so much Jessie!

Trophy Cupcakes

I want to share these pictures of Trophy Cupcakes from my trip to Seattle last year. Everything about it is so charming...the decor, color scheme, displays, and of course the cupcakes!
I was newly engaged and seeing this made me smile. How cute would it be to have this at a wedding?
It was so hard to pick just a few cupcakes. The one on the left is the chocolate graham cracker cupcake made famous by Martha Stewart. It's a valrhona chocolate cake with a bittersweet chocolate graham cracker crust topped with toasted marshmallow. I love how pretty the toasted marshmallow swirl is. It was good but the winner for me was the Tiger Tail (pictured right). It's a coconut cake with a raspberry buttercream rolled in coconut flakes and drizzled with raspberry sauce. It's such a delicious combination. I love this cupcake. It's definitely one of my favorites. Too bad it's so far away! James had a red velvet cupcake but said that the one I make is better (what a sweetheart! hehe).
I wanted to try so many other flavors like these Neopolitan ones. Aren't they pretty? I'll just have to save them for my next visit :)

Disco Bob

Enjoying some sun at Boston's Public Garden.

I’m so excited to introduce Disco Bob to you. He loves traveling just as much as I do and will be sharing photos with us from time to time. Although he looks like he loves to dance the night away at a club (just occasionally), he prefers quiet nights relaxing at home while planning his next traveling adventure. One of his goal is to take as many pictures as possible with famous landmarks from all over the world. I can't wait to see what he has in store for us!  Happy Friday everyone :)

Rain rain...

Longshan Temple in Taipei, Taiwan: The rain made this beautifully adorned temple feel extra mystical.
I use to hate rainy days because it's gloomy and wet. It still is but I don't mind it as much. There's something romantic about a rainy day especially when you're hugging your love while sharing an umbrella. You also get to wear fun rain boots. The best thing is the amazing sleep you get when it's raining outside. It's the best of both world; enjoying the sound of the rainfall while you're staying warm and cozy in your bed :)

Perfect slice

I've been craving for a slice of this sponge cake...so light and airy and not too sweet. I love the fresh fruit and whipped-cream frosting. I buy them from Eldo Cake House and Mei Sum Bakery in Boston's Chinatown. They're so good and perfect for the warmer weather. Plus, they're pretty cheap. You can get a slice for only $1.50. Can't really beat that!

Cherry Blossoms

Washington D.C. 2009- Someone tied this cute string on the cherry blossom branch. Hope their wish came true!
It's cherry blossom season and again my thoughts are with the people of Japan. (Please help and donate if you haven't done so already.) I really hope that these beautiful flowers can lift up their spirits and give them something to look forward too. I am eagerly waiting for the day when I can visit Kyoto again during their cherry blossom season. Until then, we're lucky enough to have one close by in Washington D.C. It's a great way to spend a long weekend. The views of the blossoms are just breathtaking and you also get to visit their awesome museums for free!

Tiny Art

My mom and I visited my sister in NYC for a couple of days last week for our little tradition. We had so much fun hanging out and eating yummy foods. My sister even painted my nails with cute cherry blossoms. They're so cute! Thanks for the good times miss! :)

April snow showers

I love how all the pigeons are lined up on the traffic light posts :)
Mother Nature is having a little fun with us today. It's not the first time she has played this trick on us. I still remember the April Fool's Day Blizzard in '97. We got over 2 foot of snow! So this isn't too bad. It's a nice excuse to have some hot chocolate. Stay warm and have a Happy Friday everyone!
