Goodbye January

I can't believe we're already one month into 2011. This picture pretty much sums up our January this year; lots and lots of snow! I want to climb those mountains of snow in the parking lots like all the news reporters seem to be doing. It looks fun! For those that are sick of the snow, we are one month closer to springtime. I'm looking forward to that as well; more sunlight, longer days, flowers, and pops of colors everywhere. Until then, stay warm!

Tofu Goodness

One of my favorite Japanese dish is agedashi tofu. These lightly fried tofu cubes are crispy on the outside and smooth and silky on the inside. They're often served in a hot soupy broth and garnished with spring onions and bonito flakes. I love the delicate flavors. It's the perfect dish for a cold day. My go-to place for agedashi tofu is at Ginza in Brookline, MA . Their tofu (pictured) is always perfectly fried and served with the right amount of broth. It's so satisfying.

Snow Days

There is no shortage of snow this year! I can't remember the last time we've had this many snow storms in a span of a few weeks. Its been fun venturing out and taking pictures after the storms. Today will be no exception. Here's a picture from the last week. I especially love the snow on sunny days. The contrast between the white snow and the clear blue sky is so beautiful. I can't wait to see what I can capture today. Until then, stay warm and happy shoveling!

Buttery Layers

On chilly mornings like these, I wish I was inside a warm cafe somewhere enjoying a cup of tea with a delicious morning pastry. This flaky buttery almond croissant was from Tartine Bakery. It is one of the best bakeries around and is a must-go if you're ever in San Francisco.

Munchies

When we were little, my sister and I sometimes ate the noodles that come in the instant noodle bags just as is. We would munch on them like chips. Imagine my surprise when I recently found these at Hmart. I guess we weren't the only ones! These cute bite-sized noodle blocks are packaged like bags of chips. They're so fun and a lot easier to eat!

Delicate Nature

I love the macro setting on a camera. Small things that are usually overlooked get a chance to become grand and magical. I always feel like I get to peek at a totally different world. This picture was taken in my backyard where a thick layer of snow on the banister has started to melt. This beautiful structure will be gone at any moment so it's nice to be able to capture it and enjoy it for a little bit longer.

Sweet Mountains

I had the pleasure of visiting Eat Cake! in Newburyport, MA this past fall to do a write-up for one of my favorite blogs. I love this picture because there's something so majestic about it. These cupcakes look like snow-covered mountain ranges with their pointy tops and white sprinkles. Their slight reflections on the baking sheet remind me of reflections on the waters. Just so pretty to look at...

Cozy Nights

I have a slight obsession with fun whimsical socks. I always feel happy whenever I wear them. There's nothing better than putting on some comfy pjs and cute socks and snuggling in a warm blanket during the winter. Add a cup of hot chocolate and some homemade marshmallow and it's pure bliss! Guess I have to go and make some marshmallows now. Happy Friday everyone!

Stillness

Looks like we're having our second blizzard this winter. Another 10+ inches of snow and I love it! Without snow, how can we ever see sights like this one. This was taken in the car while we were driving to Maine. (Yes, I do sit with my camera ready on my lap for unexpected moments like this. Don't worry. I'm the passenger!) It just looks so amazing. Whenever it snows, everything seems to slow down a bit. There's a sense of quiet and calm that I find so comforting. It's nice to take it all in. After all, it's only for one season. So while people are complaining about the cold, I'm happily shoveling snow and taking pictures while it's still there.

Monday Blues?

Mondays are often so difficult. It's hard to get back to work after having a couple of days off. But one of the reasons I love Mondays is that it signifies the start of a new week; a fresh start. Have you notice that it's easier to motivate yourself to make a change starting on Monday? When you think of it this way; it's not so bad. Monday is getting a bad rap so I say it should be an optimistic day where you get to plan and make your week even better than the last one. Monday blues? No way!

The first of many

On this day a little bit of morning frost has covered the windows. It just looks so magical; almost like feathers flying out from a pillow fight or stardust left behind by a fairy. I absolutely love how my lens was accidentally captured in the photo by the windows reflection.

This photo really sums up what this blog is about: me, my camera, and the little things that bring me joy. I'm looking forwarding to many more posts. Thanks for visiting and have a happy weekend!
