Heartwarming Gift

The mini wedding cake was the perfect background prop for this photo :)
My friend Judy made me this wonderfully cute cake topper as part of my bridal shower gift. No words can explain the happiness I felt when I opened the wrapping and saw these two tiny faces smiling back at me. It was just so unexpected. She painted the cutest little figures! She even sewed a perfect mini veil. I'm so appreciative of all the time she took to make this for me. Judy, thank you so much for making me feel extra special with this handmade gift. I love it so much!

I feel extremely lucky to have such great friends. I want to thank my gals for coming to my bridal shower and for all the wonderful gifts too. You ladies are the best! And special thanks to my amazing sister who took time out of her super busy schedule to come home from New York just to throw me my bridal shower ♥

Mini Wedding Cakes

I was so excited to make these mini-tiered cakes to give as favors for my bridal shower. I bought this pan a while ago and this was the first time I've used it. It was perfect for the occasion.

I used the cake and glaze recipes that came with the pan and they worked really well. I also made a thicker icing to pipe the decorations. The pink sugar pearls were the finishing touches. I love how cute they are!

I loved my friends' reactions when they received them. I have such wonderful friends and this is the least I can do to thank them for sharing this special time with me :)

I treated these cakes like they were real wedding cakes lol. I was taking pictures of all the angles and bringing in different props. I couldn't help it!

How else would you serve a mini wedding cake? :) This picture is for my friends. I was joking with them that this is how they should eat it! It wasn't bad actually! Bite-sized pieces of cake were pretty yummy and easy to eat hehe.

I really liked the cake. I didn't think I would like the sugar glaze but it added a nice thin layer of sweetness. I can't wait to use this pan again with different cake recipes :)

Strawberry Macarons

I had such a wonderful weekend! My sister came home to throw me my bridal shower and we had so much fun. I feel so lucky to have such an amazing sister and awesome group of friends. I can't wait to share the photos later this week. In the meantime, here's a picture of some strawberry macarons I made for a baby shower. I really love using the two different shell colors :)

Happy Belated!

I finally got my hands on these Birthday Cake Oreos! Oreo celebrated its 100th Birthday last month with this limited edition flavor. I love confetti birthday cake desserts (here and here) so I was really excited. The Oreos look so festive with the colorful sprinkles. I haven't had an Oreo in a long time and it was just as good as I remembered; sweet and so good with a glass of milk. I feel like a kid again :) What a perfect way to celebrate. Happy 100th Birthday Oreo!

Feeling Famous

I was browsing through Pinterest the other day and look what I saw! My Hello Kitty macarons made the front page with 172 repins! It was so unexpected and totally made my day. Here's a larger photo and link to my original post :)

I love Pinterest. It's so fun and inspirational and extremely addictive. I have an account for a long time now but still haven't started for fear of never leaving my laptop lol. I'm sure I will start one of these days. I'm just feeling so happy right now. Thank you all for loving this photo! ♥

Before & After

Beautiful strawberries made better by dipping them into chocolate! So easy to make and such a decadent treat. James and I enjoyed every bite! :)

Simple Cake Layers

James got the lemon cake layers from Mei Sum Bakery and I got the strawberry one from 101 Bakery (not much of a strawberry flavor but the pink color gets me every time :)
I love these slices of sponge cake available in most Chinatown's bakeries. They're not overly sweet and are light as air. The thin layers of cream hold the cake layers together and add the perfect amount of sweetness. I also love this slice of cake when I want something less plain. I think I might have to make a trip to Chinatown this weekend! :)

Mini Madeleines

One of my friends love madeleines so I made mini ones for her birthday. I packed them in cute favor bags and they were the perfect after-dinner treats. These little cakes are so good and extremely addictive. I like eating them while enjoying a cup of tea. I love their shell shape and little potbellies on the other side :)

Btw, I used this recipe and these pans and were able to get 140 mini madeleines.

Pretty Hydrangeas

I got to bring home these beautiful hydrangeas from a birthday party this past Saturday. Best of all, they are potted centerpieces so we can replant them in our garden :) I love the shades of blue and lavender...so pretty and calming.

Kokeshi Dolls

Today I'm working on picking out photos for the Spring Festival. They bring back such great memories from my trip to Japan. Here's a picture of cute kokeshi dolls. I love their simple shapes and pleasant expressions. They make really great souvenirs. I always smile when I see mine :)

♥ Hello Kitty at Laduree ♥

I can't get over how cute these boxes are! Thank you so much sis! :)
I don't think I have to tell you how exciting this is for me. I love Laduree and I love Hello Kitty. The collaboration between the two is almost too much for me to take. I received a newsletter from Laduree announcing this exciting news and I promptly asked my sister to go buy them for me since she lives in NYC. Not only did she get them on the same day that I called her, she even took these wonderful pictures for me. She's so awesome :) I can't wait to share more photos of the goodies. There are notebooks, stickers, and letter sets too! The only thing they're missing are these Hello Kitty macarons hehe.

I love the contrast between the sweet pastel Hello Kitty box and my sister's super cool spikey bracelet lol
